TRemPre passive parts

Some times I get asked what parts are delivered with the different kits. To answer that question, many of the kit descriptions now include a photo of the parts. Some part lists are also available for download. The part lists don't always include the cables/connectors that are supplied, but they are included on the photos.

Other questions are about the brand/types of components that are supplied. In the following I will list the types that are normally in the kits.

Resistors
For the audio parts of the circuits, Welwyn MFR4 and MFR5 1% metal films are supplied. For other parts of the circuit the default type is BC/Philips SFR25. Where E-96 values are needed, BC/Philips MRS25 is supplied. Both of these types are metal films also.

Film capacitors
Most of these are made by Wima, BC/Philips and Electel. A few types are from Ero, Epcos and Arcotronics. For the tube circuits I use caps from ASC and Solen also. For filter applications high stability types are supplied (polypropylene, polystyrene - KP, MKP, KS, KSP) - film/foil types preferred. For coupling and decoupling polyester and polypropylene types (MKT, MKP) are used.

Electrolytic capacitors
A wide range of brands/types is used here. A lot are European (BC/Philips, ROE, Frolyt), and the rest are mostly Asian (Panasonic, Nippon Chemicon, Nichicon, Rubycon, Jamicon etc.). I don't supply any no-name Chinese caps that blow up after a year's use!

PCBs
Most of the PCBs are either silver plated or gold plated. The Remote1 and C2Panel1 boards are solder plated. The silver plated boards are supplied in plastic bags. Leave them there untill you are ready to start assembly. When you touch the solder pads, they will get tarnished after some days. This causes no "electrical" problems, but makes soldering harder.

Although I normally supply the parts listed, I sometimes have to supply different brands or types. I sometimes can't order enough parts at a time to get a distributor to order a box or even get a production run started - so I sometimes have to take what I can get. I don't supply lower quality parts though - just different types.
